AI-powered dubbing for Instagram Reels announced

Instagram is set to equip Reels with AI-powered dubbing; initially for certain creators in the United States and Latin America who speak English and Spanish, it will be available.

The tool was unveiled at Meta's annual Meta Connect event; using artificial intelligence, it can fully dub Instagram Reels into other languages while mimicking lip movements.

The capability was demonstrated during a presentation by Mark Zuckerberg; Meta says the technology can not only translate content but also alter the speakers' voices to another language and reproduce their lip movements.

As noted, the feature will launch initially for some creators in the United States and Latin America; there is no announced timeline for adding more languages.

Meta's AI can now speak with the voices of famous people, and the company has collaborated with individuals such as John Cena. The company also showcased real-time translation through Meta's smart glasses.
